Anambra State Traditional Rulers Council recommend erring members to government for sanctions

Anambra State Traditional Rulers’ Council, rising from a briefing held at Governor’s Lodge, Onitsha, has recommended that appropriate sanctions be meted out on her members who are found in a video trending on social media.

Chairman of the council, and traditional ruler of Onitsha and Chairman of the council, Igwe Alfred Achebe said there are established protocols that includes traditional rulers informing the state government before travelling out of their domain.

Igwe Achebe stressed that travelling outside the state on an alledged appointment with President Mohammad Buhari on behalf of Anambra State Traditional Rulers Council on issues affecting the state without prior knowledge of the state government, is upsurping the powers of the government adding that it goes against the laid down procedures and an insult to the governor and the institution he represents.

The Council further stated that, it behoves on the state government to ascertain the sanctions that should be given to them, saying the council is united.

Present at the briefing were second Deputy Chairman of the Council and traditional ruler of Okpuno, Igwe Sunday Okafor, Chairman of Anambra South Traditional Council and traditional ruler of Akwaihedi, Igwe Col. JOC Onebunne, his North counterpart and traditional ruler of Ossomala, Igwe Victor Awogu and the Chairman of Anambra Central Traditional Council and traditional ruler of Akwaeze, Igwe Christopher Okpala among others.
