Chief Johnbosco Onunkwo Undertakes Solidarity And Sympathy Visits To Onitsha Erosion Site, Supervises Electrification Project

The good people of Obeleagu Inland Town Onitsha were filled with joy and happiness within the week, as Engr. Johnbosco Onunkwo, the founder of Johnbosco Onunkwo Foundation (JOF) and a guber aspirant of the All Progressives Congress visited their erosion site shortly after worshipping at Salvation for All Mission, a Pentecostal church located in the area.

The Umuchu born philanthropist visited the Obeleagu street of Inland Town on the heels of the landslide erosion in order to bring succour to the victims of this latest ecological disaster which had since displaced not less than 5,000 residents of the area.

The Johnbosco Onunkwo Foundation (JOF) had in times past provided some cash grants to affected residents of the area and promised to electrify the area. Today, the area is enjoying the luxury of electricity supply courtesy of Engr. Johnbosco Onunkwo, enhancing the conditions of life and living for the people within that area.

During a press briefing with newsmen at Obeleagu erosion site of Inland Town, Onitsha, Engr. Johnbosco Onunkwo stated that his foundation was poised to come to the aid of the victims of the erosion, as the hardship which the erosion disaster threw them into needed to be given serious attention by both government, charity organizations, corporate bodies and good-spirited philanthropists. He remarked that the purpose of his visit was to supervise the level of work that had been done by his foundation.

He called on the state government to expedite actions towards reclaiming the land so as to bring succour to the victims of the area, especially the landlords whose houses were washed down by the landslide. He also emphasized that he was satisfied with the level of electrification his foundation had done in the area and promised to continue offering any necessary assistance that the victims of the landslide erosion might need.

The APC Chairman of Onitsha North, Hon. Chuba Nwakaibe seized the opportunity to thank Engr. Johnbosco Onunkwo for his relentless support and for coming to the aid of residents of the area affected by the disaster. Similarly, he called on well-meaning people of Anambra, good-spirited individuals and humanitarians to emulate the good example of Engr. Johnbosco Onunkwo and come to the rescue of the impoverished and displaced victims.

On behalf of the residents of Obeleagu, Inland Town, Onitsha, Hon. Nwakaibe thanked Engr. Johnbosco Onunkwo, and prayed God to replenish him profoundly even as he appreciated the good man for remembering them in their time of difficulty and misfortune and for installing electricity in the area. He also asked God to bless him and bless his vision for Anambra State.
